News Update : 3 PM (La Jolla-time) Saturday, Oct 11, 2025

FYI, one of the two iOS Bugs we had been trying to resolve appears to only affect Debug builds.

i.e., it doesn't affect Release builds.

Specifically, invoking:

AVAssetWriter -startWriting

causes a six second OR so delay in Debug builds.

The other iOS Bug, "System gesture gate timed out," is still an open issue.

It's due to some conflict between Photosets' gestures & the iPhone's (OR iPad's) system-level gestures.

It causes a noticeable delay in the app the first time a User taps a dialog's UI component.

Luckily only once after each fresh launch.

And BTW, we've run a number of Experiments to try to resolve this 2nd issue, but NONE are better than just keeping it in (for now).

Specifically, the known work-arounds limit the app in one way or another.

On a side note, today we concluded that as the AI Hype continues to wane, small App Devs that are highly-profitable will become En Vogue.

Read that to mean we need to step-up our Marketing & Business Development efforts.

News Update : 9:30 AM (La Jolla-time) Saturday, Oct 11, 2025

Quick update to our earlier Breaking News.

First, we see four areas where Apple's monopoly failed high-end iPhone owners, AAPL shareholders, & the shareholders of Apple's own cellular service provider partners:

● App Discovery

● Ratings & Reviews

● Who gets App Updates

● Search Ads

Second, there are app categories where Apple could (& very-likely get-away with) claiming Ignorance, but NOT (we believe) with Camera Apps.

Most of Apple's iPhone TV Ads promote its Camera.

Photos on one end, Videos on the other end, & Burst Photos, preferably captured in High-Speed & with High-Precision Timing (& paired to a photo set-based Filesystem), in the middle.

Apple has done very well on the ends, but piss-poor in the middle.

And that's despite the fact that they acquired a one-man Burst Photo Camera App company alittle over a decade ago.

i.e., for SnappyCam's NEON-based JPEG encoder.

Apple does have one possible out.

Apple could claim Technical Incompetence & Market Opportunity Ignorance.

i.e., as a way to explain having left $113B+ USD of high-end iPhone revenue on the table over the years.

But that won't make them look very good.

And for clarity, Apple dug themselves into the Hole.

Our contribution was simply Best-in-Class Perseverance.

BREAKING NEWS : 8:30 AM (La Jolla-time) Saturday, Oct 11, 2025

We've made some important Business Strategy decisions this morning.

First, we've decided to price the Base version of Photosets at ONLY xxx.

Second, we've put the release of the app's "Premium" sub On Hold.

The Gist, trying to make money in Apple's App Store has been holding us back.

We need to focus on our AI & ML tasks at-hand.

On a side note, the Apple App Dev "terms" (now ?) state that Apple is under NO obligation to Recommend OR Promote ANY third-party app, regardless as to how good it might be.

After careful analysis & consideration on our end, we don't believe that's legal.

Tim Cook is a director of Apple.

And as such, has a Fiduciary Duty to the company's shareholders.

And as such, has a legal obligation to Recommend & Promote third-party apps that would help Apple's top & bottom lines.

And here we're NOT talking about third-party app sales, but iPhone Unit Sales.

Specifically, apps that could be catalysts for shortening the lengthening iPhone Upgrade Cycles.

 Do you see where we're going with this ?

If you know Our Story, you know precisely.

We're gonna ask Tim Cook to have Apple's legal team review the App Dev "terms" WRT Director Fiduciary Duty.

It seems pretty straightforward to us that Apple's App Store does in-deed have both a Duty & a Responsibility to Recommend & Promote the best apps.
