Enthusiasm for Camera Applications & Use-Cases is what drives most iPhone Upgrade Cycles. So why then did Apple neglect the third-party Burst Photo Camera App category ? ... News Update : 7:30 PM (La Jolla-time) Friday, April 26, 2024 FYI, today, Day #2 of the NFL Draft, we're standing-pat with our belief that Apple will announce Tim's retirement date on May 2nd ! i.e., at Apple's next Earnings Call. To us, ALL the signs are there. For one, if Kuo knows the Vision Pro has been a flop, the AAPL Board also knows. And, we believe they've probably known for a couple of weeks. Which, to us, explains some of Tim's recent activities. See our Breaking News announcement of yesterday for a Heads Up. And BTW, some may think Tim Cook gets UN-limited chances to get it right, but we don't believe that's the case. We believe the AAPL Board first started lighting a fire under him about this time last year. When it became obvious to most that AI & ML was the next big thing. And BTW, we're NOT Tim Cook haters, he just never developed the right Skill Set to run the company long term. That type of person should have Technical Insight & Domain/Application/Use-Case Expertise. Tim's worst decision, by far, was appointing Phil Schiller to run the App Store. By our count that decision cost AAPL more than $113B USD of high-end iPhone revenue. Due to iPhone Upgrade Cycles being longer than they should have been. -----
BREAKING NEWS : 6 PM (La Jolla-time) Thursday, April 25, 2024 FYI, it just hit us, that the stars are now aligned for Apple to announce Tim Cook's retirement (date) at Apple's next Earnings Call on Thursday, May 2nd. We say this because of: 1.) The Apple Vision Pro appears to have flopped, BIG time ! On Tuesday, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Apple had reduced the number of units that it plans to ship in 2024, from 700K-800k units to ONLY 400k-450k units. 2.) The pending TikTok ban here in the States will create friction between the Chinese Govt & Apple, which will need to be managed by someone high-up at Apple. NO better person than the outgoing CEO who has had close ties to the Chinese Govt over the years. 3.) Tim is now working harder to pivot Apple's manufacturing out of China. Our take: Tim wants to get credit for this before leaving. 4.) Apple has begun leaking details of its AI-focused M4 chips. Our take: Tim wants to get credit for this before leaving.
The gist of it ALL, the AAPL Board will give Tim till the end of the year to accomplish his goals. And very importantly, on May 2nd, Apple will announce that it will begin searching for his replacement. We do NOT believe it will be another Operations guy OR girl. i.e., that it will be someone with both Technical & Domain/Application/Use-Case experience & insight. On a side note, if our prediction comes true, we will step up our efforts to recruit Tim to assist in our Environmental Causes efforts. Time is of the Essence. And BTW, we believe Tim can have a significantly bigger impact with those efforts than he did during his reign as CEO of Apple. -----
