Cosmosent "Auto Div"

Auto Divsion / Cosmosent Labs, Inc.

(Text last updated 11 AM, Sun, Aug 18, 2024)

This webpage describes the efforts of our Auto Division, which was established in Aug of 2023.

More specifically, it describes the efforts of our N52+ Cylinder Head Rebuild Service.

As they approach 200K miles, most BMW N52 engines experience Excessive Oil Consumption, primarily because their Valve Stem (Oil) Seals have worn out.

But other than this Oil Consumption Problem, the N52 is an UN-Discovered Gem.

Reliability-wise, we give it an A++ grade.

And that's based-on the 210K miles driven on our (prototype) 2006 BMW E90 325i sedan with 6-speed manual transmission.

And BTW, every BMW N52 engine on the planet is a candidate for what we're pursuing.

i.e., correlates to a potential customer.

Availability & Pricing will be disclosed when officially released.

📌 News Update : 8 PM (La Jolla-time) Monday, Aug 12, 2024

(This is a copy of a relevant News Update)

Two (more) things to announce today:

1.) The Team was out at Windansea Beach today.

It was nice, very nice !

2.) We're continuining to refine the implementation strategy for our N52+.

As a reminder, when we say our N52+, we're really referring to a Rebuilt Cylinder Head.

To reduce oil consumption to a Min:

Resurfacing of the Head

(new) +0.3mm Head Gasket

(new) Valve Stem (Oil) Seals
(by-far the most-important factor)

To improve performance & reliability:

Multi-Angle Valve Job

(new) Valves, Valve Springs, Valve Retainers, & Lifters

(new) Valves Guides ?

The gist of it ALL, as an N52 engine approaches 200K miles, the Valve Stem (Oil) Seals will
normally be worn-out

Resulting in excessive oil consumption.

Replacing them is NON-trivial.

Requires the Cylinder Head to be removed from the engine.

What most don't know is that except for the Oil Consumption Problem,
BMW's N52 is an UN-Discovered Gem !

Reliability-wise we give it an A++ grade.

And BTW, our (prototype) 2006 BMW E90 325i sedan with 6-speed manual transmission is currently 9 miles shy of 210K miles.

It is in dire need of new Valve Stem (Oil) Seals.

But otherwise, runs like a Gem.

Runs like new except for the Oil Consumption Problem.

ALL the necessary Head Work will be done next month.

We'll then have it Dyno Tested.

That will give us our Baseline for moving forward.

And BTW, $5K USD to get the Cylinder Head Rebuilt, another $500 USD for Dyno Testing.

As a reminder, we now devote 1/3 of our Time & Energy to our Auto Division.

We are probably the ONLY Camera App Dev with an Auto Division.
